Collective Luxury Haul with Some First Impressions: Sephora VIB 20% Off, Shoppers Drugmart 20x the Points

Hello hello hello (from the outsiiiiiiiiiiiiide)! I’m so excited to write this post. Today I will be featuring all the (expensive) goodies I bought from the Sephora at regular price and during their VIB 20% off, and the Shoppers Drugmart 20x the Points. Don’t be fooled by the little amount of items I bought – they may be small in number, but together, they put a dent in my bank account.

Sephora sales are exciting on their own; they offer so many great brands, and 20% makes you want to try more than you thought you wanted to. And you can still get a full refund on the items! While the 20x the Points at Shoppers never seemed all that exciting to me, a few friends convinced me  it is the best time to grab some products. Much to my surprise, I find it even better than the Sephora points and little perks. Although you are buying items for full price, the points convert into money, so you may get a product for free in the future. I went from $30 to $85 worth of free items at Shoppers during the 20x the Points event. That means I can get that Phyto Phytopolleine Botanical Scalp Treatment ($50 CAD) fo’ free!

Now, on with the products!

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 (Beige 30)
Let me just say, I can’t believe I own this. Aside from the oh so chic packaging, I actually got a sample of this before deciding to spend the big bucks on it ($54 CAD). I tested it without primer and wanted to see how well it held on its own. My goodness – a little dab with my RT Expert Face Brush covered over half my face, the coverage evened out my skin tone, imperfections like pores and hyper-pigmentation was blurred and subdued, I had a healthy glow, and it looked natural. Plus, I don’t mind the scent – it’s quite a lovely, light floral type scent (I want to say orchid or cotton – correct me if I’m wrong). I love my Sappho Cosmetics foundation, but it was becoming too dark to wear. Beige 30 matched very well with my chest, but yet it still adapted to my lighter face colour. What surprised me more is when my friend who is Indian (lighter complexion) told me she match to Beige 30. The lady at Shoppers who matched me before my purchase even told me she takes Beige 30 as well, and she is Philippina. What’s more odd, is that I also match perfectly with the concealer I’m about to talk about.

Top: Concealer, Bottom: foundation. Although the swatch looks dark, it is because the product is in a concentrated area. If you blend it during regular makeup application, the results prove to be much more natural.

Chanel Long Lasting (Revitalizing) Concealer (20 Beige Ivoire)
Deciding between Beige 30 and 20 in concealer, the 30 was VERY pink, whereas the 20 was the perfect yellow. Although it’s supposed to be lighter, it still blended with the Beige 30 foundation very well, and it didn’t look like I had an obvious bright concealer spot on my face. This is only my second time using a concealer that has a doe foot applicator and I gotta say, I’m loving it. I personally prefer applying the concealer with a brush, waiting a few minutes, then dabbing with my ring finger to properly blend. This concealer covers very well, and I have been able to use it on areas I need to brighten up. It is not too drying, and it doesn’t have a shiny effect that it’ll make any breakouts standout more.

Kat Von D Lolita Lip Duo (Lolita and Lolita II)

I’m so surprised I managed to pick this up. My friend and I visited Sephora  to buy Lolita, but obviously it was sold out. She magically found this in the aisle of doom, with only a few left! People…. These are amazing. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the original because the colour is so different, but that’s exactly the reason why I liked it. True to the hype, these lip stains look different on everyone once it has settled in onto your lips. I do not want, but NEED the bigger sizes NOW.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer

I was not about to fork out $60 for a primer, so the $21 size it was! I do notice a slight evening effect on my skin from it, and my face becomes quite matte and smooth. Although I find the Chanel VLA to be fine on its own, the Veil Mineral Primer definitely adds to blurring out my pores and the longevity of the foundation. I’m not one to be too crazy about primers, but we’ll see how things go until I run out of this 0.33 oz bottle.

Lierac Hydra-Chrono Refreshing Mattifying Fluid

My skin has been dying of thirst since the weather went below 10C, and was in need of a good drink. Problem is, if I use a thick cream, my skin will break out, and lighter consistency moisturizers do not feel hydrating enough. Two ladies at Shoppers highly recommended this moisturizer to me and guaranteed it will tackle all the concerns I have listed for them. I was a little bit concerned about the mattifying aspect, but they told me I can return the item if I’m not happy with it. So far I have been using it for a few days. Today was 3C in Toronto with little wind. I walked outside with my boyfriend for around 3 hours. My face never felt painfully tight, and as I sit here typing this, I’m touching my face, and it’s still looking healthy and feeling smooth.

Murad Essential-C Cleanser

Why do I keep purchasing expensive cleansers? Because I can with 20% off. I saw ilikeweylie talking about this in her updated skincare routine, and I thought I’d give it a try. It’s a nice gel-like consistency in a pretty hefty tube. I only use cleansers during my night time routine, so it will definitely last me a while. It doesn’t hurt to see that people wrote positive experiences with this cleanser as well. My one problem with this product is that it’s filled with vitamin C, but it is in a clear tube, rather than a dark one. It makes me question if its active ingredients will even work. I keep all my products in my bathroom drawer away from the light anyways, so I shouldn’t have to worry too much.

Tarte Clay Pot Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner Black

I’m fairly new to gel liner, and I’m glad I got this as a recommendation. It is very black and creamy, and a little amount is needed to use it. Although it’s a deceiving little pot, I’m sure it’ll last me a long while. (My apologies for no swatch photo, I forgot my eyeliner brush at home -_-)

That’s about it for my luxury haul! Truthfully, there are a couple of items I didn’t include. They’re Christmas gifts, I don’t want this post to spoil the surprise :p

Hope you enjoyed the read! What did you grab during Sephora VIB and Shoppers 20x the Points?

xo, M
