Minimal Makeup ft. RMS Beauty

Hey Beautypuffs

With summer in full force, some of you might question the best way to do your makeup. It’s hot and can be humid at times. If you’re like me, your skin colour ranges a lot based on how much sun you may get on your days off. And a bonus to us acne-prone, our breakouts may be more inflamed.

This has been a personal feat of mine to try to find a way to get the most natural coverage in full light, while not having to buy multiple different shades to match my skin tone of the day. That’s when I finally discovered RMS Beauty.

RMS Beauty is a raw, natural, organic makeup line created by Rose Mary Swift – someone who’s been in the beauty industry for years and has had enough of the toxic, harmful ingredients in products. You can read about her personal experience with beauty products and the toll it took on her health here.

Here’s just a tiny excerpt from a long description of what her beauty line means to her:

This is where RMS Beauty breaks away from the pack of natural cosmetics. RMS Beauty products are formulated with raw, food grade and organic ingredients in their natural state, allowing their living, healing attributes to penetrate and rejuvenate the skin. In their purest form, enzymes, vitamins, antioxidants and their healing properties remain fully intact, encouraging amazing potential for anti-aging effects. RMS Beauty has also taken extreme care in the use of minimal heat in the manufacturing process of this product in order to keep all nutrients and healing properties alive. All RMS Beauty products are free of harmful chemicals, synthetic preservatives, synthetic vitamins, and genetically altered ingredients (GMO) etc. RMS Beauty is full of healing nutrients – nutrients that work synergistically with the skin, and are in harmony with nature and our environment. Each ingredient in RMS Beauty is carefully chosen to create a dialogue with the skin. Your touch activates the life force of the product, and nutrients interact with skin to promote hydration, softness, and luminosity.

My Love Affair

I have been using RMS Beauty’s “un” cover-up concealers and the “un” tinted setting powder for almost 2 years now, and it’s definitely a product I just naturally reach to when I want to do a minimal look for the day (or night!) I have 22 and 33, and the 2-3 tinted powder.

Although it is coconut based and creamy, this product has never EVER once been the cause of a break out, nor a contributor to an inflamed spot. However, if too much is used, especially on a hot day, you may experience some congestion (for me it’s the nose area). If this is the case, I just apply a light enough coverage to take away the redness, and not try to pack it on to hide a spot (I’ve stopped caring about how visible some marks may be, as long as the redness is diffused). I love and strongly recommend this brand to everyone, with any skin concern!

Application

I don’t have bad under eye circles by any means, but I enjoy using 22 under the eyes to add a bit of brightness. Instead of the “un” tint powder, I prefer setting it with a translucent powder (Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder with the RT setting brush) . I either apply the product with my fingers or with a small flat brush.

For my breakouts and hyperpigmentation marks, 33 comes in handy. Again, I either apply it with my fingers, or with a small dense brush for more coverage. I like using the “un” tinted powder with 33 because it takes away the shine of the concealer, and I also find it helps match my skin colour better, especially if I’m leaning towards a more tan side.

Sorry about the lighting. Can’t control the sun!

Finishing touches:
I fill in my brows with the Face Shop Lovelyme:ex Style My Eyebrow pencil 01, and Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Mascara in the lightest shade.

Apply Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion on the cheeks, and highlighted all main areas with RMS Living Luminizer.

Topped off my lips with Ilia Beauty’s Lip Conditioner “In Paradise.”

The end result of this look shows that my skin still looks like my skin, no cakiness or discolouration from choosing the wrong product.

I can’t recommend RMS Beauty enough to all my family and friends. The quality of the product has yet to be beat (for me personally).

As for this look, I still look like me, without redness and breakouts showing, and lightly emphasizing feature’s I already have. I’d say the only thing I tried shaping are my eyebrows, and that’s it.

Appreciate what you got, everyone! Makeup is a lot of fun, but don’t go hiding yourself and changing your face to look like someone you’re not!
