Summer Essentials 2017 : Skincare, Makeup, Misc., and Many Mists!

I feel like this summer I have some amazing products that will be in constant rotation in my skincare, makeup, and even hair routine! They just perform so well and I enjoy using them. And obviously, the bonus is they don’t do anything to aggravate my current skin concerns! They either just let my skin be, or contribute to its overall health. Below I listed my absolute musts for summer, including some alternatives.

Skincare

Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner* – I have only used this and the Belif hydrating toner, but I have to say the Klairs one is a wonderful formulation. It sinks into the skin easily and it feels like it’s giving it life!

Thayer’s Witch Hazel Aloe Vera Formula Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Toner – I’ve mentioned this toner in the past as my go-to astringent toner. It’s a great grab for congested skin on my face, back, and chest! I particularly like the Rose Petal one because I find my face is left softer than what you’d expect from an astringent toner. One Routine to Rule Them All: The Skincare Routine That Saved My Face

J. One Jelly Pack – This is my JAM. Like god damn, I didn’t think I’d like this product so much. Aside from its VERY off-putting gluey texture, it glides very easily on the face. I feel an instant cooling sensation, and it’s a multipurpose product of a face pack, moisturizer and primer! My skin feels and looks good and my makeup will last all day (more on this product in the future – stay tuned!)

Make P:rem UV Defense Me Blu Ray Sun Gel SPF50 PA++++ – Probably the best sunscreen I have tried to date. I have the gel formula, and I don’t think I’d even consider the cream one. It’s light and hydrating, makes my skin look healthy, and protects!

The Chemistry Brand “Glow” Oil – Again, GOD DAMN. I noticed in a couple of days this baby working. My face is lighter than my neck, my neck is lighter than my body. I am so many shades of skin, I just wanted to even it out! At first I mixed it in with a moisturizer in case the formulation was not good for my facial skin, but I eventually just applied the oil straight up to my face. First application you get a lovely glowy look, within a few days you’ll definitely see a bit of colour! It has not broken me out at all, and it dries pretty quickly.

Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream* – This product is very good at cooling down any “heated” areas of your skin. I usually place this cream in the center of my face when it’s looking red, or on any inflamed breakouts. It can also be placed on any sunburned areas as well! In the past, I’ve used the Weleda Calendula Intensive Skin Recovery Cream  (complimentary product sent for review) on a very very burnt foot, and it really helped sooth the  red area and condition the skin.

Makeup

RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up Concealer* – I have been using this for years and I have to say it’s my HG for minimal makeup days. It’s a nice concentrated colour, and it blends in with my skin tone very well in the summer OR winter. I notice in the summer when I combine it with the “Un”-Tinted Powder 2-3, that matching it to my more tan skin is better. Minimal Makeup ft. RMS Beauty

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eyeshadow “Rio de Rose Gold” – This is the only eyeshadow I like in their line. It looks beautiful when heavily applied or sheered out. Just one swipe of this and my eye look is complete!

Ilia Beauty Lipstick “Neon Angel,” Lip Conditioners “In Paradise” & “Voila”* – Neon Angel is the BEST cold colour hot pink lipstick I have found. Although it looks amazing on my tanned skin, I find this will be equally as lovely for those who are fair skinned and want that amazing pop of colour. Voila is a beautiful, peachy-tangerine colour that’s brighter on the lips than expected. In Paradise is a great everyday coral colour on the lips. What I like about this brand in particular is that they don’t irritate my lips on hot sunny days, and keep them hydrated.

Miscellaneous

Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo – Probably the best hair powder I have tried! The ingredients are simple, and I have to say the packaging is EXCELLENT for dispensing product. And it WORKS. My hair does not look oily by the end of the day and I only have to apply it before I leave the door and it’ll last.

Sephora Blotting Paper Cooling Mint – Seriously, WHO was I before I found these! Although I don’t specifically recommend the Sephora brand, so far they’ve been excellent at removing excess oil without budging any of my makeup. I forgot to bring setting powder with me to work, so I’ve been using these to keep my face in check.

Mists

So, I have an excessive amount of mists for just one person, but trust me, I mist the love around! I swear to you these all have a different function, but I’m just an extra person in this category of Summer Essentials.

Province Apothecary Invigorating + Balancing Facial Toner* – This one feels like it gives the most life out of the bunch, hence the invigorating aspect to it. It’s a lovely fine mist that gives you a stimulating sensation. I like spraying this on my face for those needed perk-up days.

DIY Face Mist – I have been spraying everyone and anyone at work and when I’m out with friends because it’s just so damn hydrating. I don’t put it in the fridge and it still feels so refreshing upon first spritz. Although it’s a heavier mist, I have sprayed my face with this when wearing a full face of makeup and it never compromises the look.

Saje Rose Hydrating Euphoric Mist – Yeah, it’s just water and rose essential oil, wanna fight about it? But I believe in the power of aromatherapy! I use this as a body mist and the scent really engulfs me. Also I smell really good after and it’s cheaper than the Chloe perfume *thumbs up*

Divine Essence Organic Labrador Tea Floral Water – This one was a lovely surprise. I had no idea what Labrador Tea benefits were at first, but it seems to cater to my acne-prone, dry skin quite nicely. It’s a really nice light, refreshing mist that leaves my face feeling hydrated and healthy looking. It pretty much does the same thing as the DIY face mist, but with a lighter touch and aromatherapeutic.  (complimentary product sent for review)

And that’s all folks! I know it seems like a lot of stuff (especially the mists), but these products definitely perform well and help me maintain clear and healthy looking skin all over.

Hope you  enjoyed the read!
