March 2018 Roundup

Another roundup of favourites and empties for the month of March! I think you get the gist of these posts by now 😉 *sorry I’m late with the blog post*

FAVOURITES

Muji Portable Eyelash Curler – I’ve been watching TokiYuYu on Youtube as of late and she has a lot of great Top 10 videos. I couldn’t help but watch the top 10 Beauty Muji Products and was fascinated by the Muji Portable Eyelash Curler she mentioned. I’ve been missing curling my eyelashes so I decided to pick one up. Wow, I was not expecting to like it! The cushions (not sure if that’s what it’s called) are so – well – cushiony – that at first I didn’t even know if it did anything. Also it’s really easy to pinch your lid with this curler so I’m always extra attentive when I use it. Despite that it’s been curling my lashes nicely without them looking kinked and fits my eye shape pretty well.

Pixi x Weylie Hoang Dimensional Eye Creator Palette – My brushes actually pick up colour on this palette really well, doesn’t look chalky, and blends nicely. Plus for 6 shades, you can actually create multiple looks, surprisingly in the lighter, more natural (and warm) spectrum of looks. Overall I’m really impressed by the quality from this palette given that it’s from the drugstore (I don’t buy drugstore makeup that often). REVIEW: Pixi x Weylie Hoang Dimensional Eye Creator Kit

The Ordinary 100% Cold-Pressed Virgin Marula Oil – Where the hell have I been? I only use 3 drops of this and my face looks smoothed out and it feels extremely soft! Now that my skin is drier, I prefer this more than Rosehip Oil – which was my HG facial oil for a very long time. I have the Ordinary one, but it’s not my favourite RHO I’ve tried. I’ve become interested in trying Marula oil after hearing rave reviews about Drunk Elephant’s Marula Oil, but you cannnnnnoooooottttt beat the price of the one the Ordinary carries. I wish I knew about this at the beginning of winter, for I feel like I could’ve avoided a lot of dried-skin hardships!

EMPTIES

Charmzone Control Cream Self-Massage – Still is my favourite peeling gel to date! Right now I’m still using the Dr. G one that I mentioned in my February 2018 Roundup. I’ve mentioned I want to go back to this eventually and maybe even repurchase it right away, but I’m trying to finish products before I purchase (and it’s been SO hard! I’m an addict). I feel like I’ve been getting better though! REVIEW: Charmzone Control Cream Self Massage

Dermalogica UltraCalming Mist – I finished this so fast! I’m telling you, this winter has been way too harsh on my skin. Constantly dry! This was such a nice mist for relief. I would totally repurchase it, but too many mists, not enough face. Also since I’m trying to make money, I made a DIY one that is aloe-based. January 2018 Roundup

Huxley Secret of Sahara Oil Essence – It’s by no means a bad product. But to sum up my feelings for this in the words of Caroline Hirons: “The juice is good, the packaging is shit.” Seriously Huxley, fix the damn dropper. I would’ve enjoyed using this product so much more had this not been a huge issue. I love the texture, smell, and overall liked what it did for my skin, but the price and the way it dispenses just doesn’t appeal to me.

Casmara Purifying Oxygenating Moisturizing Cream * – I judged this by the packaging and actually thought it would be too much of a lotion feeling for me, but surprisingly it dispsensed a more creamy texture. Even more of a plus, only a little amount was needed and it took a few months for it to run out for me and the bf. I would purchase it, but truthfully the place to buy this in the GTA is too inconvenient and we have other moisturizers we need to go through. Otherwise, I would definitely consider using this again and recommending it to you dry-skinned peeps if you can get your hands on it!

Agave Oil Treatment – Meh. I feel like this oil wasn’t for my hair, especially now that it has been bleached a few times. I am happy with my North American Hemp Co. * one I’m currently using and would not consider repurchasing the Agave Oil Treatment. Again, not for my hair, bleached or unbleached. I think folks with fine hair would enjoy this product more!

TOSS

Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist With Rosemary SPF50 PA+++ – I appreciate the concept of this product, that it’s an easy way to reapply your sunscreen without compromising your makeup, but I don’t like it. I originally didn’t like it because it’s high content and smell of denatured alcohol, a skincare ingredient that’s supposed to create a “clean canvas” to let products sink into the skin better. I just notice my skin always looks progressively weaker if I use a skincare product with denatured alcohol in it so I’ve been avoiding it for the longest time. Not only that, when I spray this, I have a fuzz cast. By that I mean, the sunscreen in here sits on the non-visible peach fuzz on my face. Also as I’m getting into sunscreen reapplication more, I can’t help but feel like a spray is not decent enough for protection. It’s too uneven and uncontrollable. [REVIEW] Supergoop! Barre to Bar Beauty Set goes to Cuba!

Hope you enjoyed this month’s roundup! I’m actually happy I have more empties than favourites this time. Feels good to use up products! Hope you’ve been successful in minimizing your product collection.
