April 2018 Roundup

I actually did quite a bit of shopping in the month of April, especially since I’ve decluttered many a things and have given them away to family members and friends. It gave me a smidgen of room to try other things I’ve been waiting to buy!

It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream (Medium) – It took me so long to hop on this bandwagon! It evens out my skin tone nicely, is a fair match to my skin tone, and lasts a long time. Now that Toronto weather is warmer and more sunny, I’ve noticed this CC Cream does an excellent job at providing addition sun protection on top of my SPF product. I sometimes do notice the ashiness from the physical SPF in it, but it’s nothing that makes me uncomfortable to wear, especially when I finish applying other makeup products.

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Sheer Shine Lipstick (S RD 150) – The perfect warm hot pink colour! It sits very comfortably on the lips and has a surprising amount of pigmentation from it. The only thing is there is a weird taste to it so I try to dab the inside of my mouth beforehand.

Cerave Hydrating Cleanser – I love the consistency, feel, and simplicity of this cleanser. It just cuts any sensitivity I have on my skin and is very enjoyable to use. I use this one on my lighter makeup days or if I’m feeling a morning cleanse.

Cerave PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion & Moisturizing Cream – These two paired together have been my favourite form of moisturizing as of late! They have very simple but effective formulations of emollients to restore the skin’s moisture and strengthen the skin barrier, all the while providing a good occlusive shield to prevent Trans Epidermal Water Loss. I particularly love the PM one because of the niacinamide; it’s been giving me a more even, bright complexion while minimizing the look of my pores!

Benzagel 5 Acne Wash – Yep, I went back to using good ol’ Benzoyl Peroxide to help control my acne. I opted for a wash form because I heard it was much gentler, and the last time I used a BP gel treatment I had a bad reaction. I like that this brand is very simple and no-nonsense in its ingredient list, and it actually helped lower a couple of painful cysts that formed this past month and does a great job at controlling my chin – the most breakout prone area on my face!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush (Dim Infusion) – I know it’s not completely empty, but I noticed that it was oxidizing to brown very short after application. This was my go to coral colour and it gave my face so much life! I opted for a different coral blush in my Sephora VIB Haul that was smaller in size (also it was a blush I’ve been wanting to try for a while). If that blush doesn’t work out, I’d definitely go back to this one!

Banish Acne Scars Vitamin C Elixir – This was part of the Banish Starter Kit I purchased back in March. Probably my least favourite facial mist of all time. It doesn’t do anything other than tingle my face due to the peppermint oil in it.

Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop * – I’ve already opened up another bottle of this. I like that it softens my skin fast and I only need 3 drops to cover my entire face. I’m still on the fence as to how effective a peptide, antioxidant product can be on its own, but so far it’s been contributing to my skincare.

Too Cool For School Ziukoza Eye & Lip Makeup Remover – This took to long to run out. It is very perfumed, and I just didn’t enjoy using it! I much prefer Too Cool For School’s Cleansing Water to remove eye and lip makeup.

Phyto Paris Phytopolleine Botanical Scalp Treatment – This was my second bottle of this stuff and it acts fast at soothing my scalp of irritation. However during the Sephora VIB Sale I opted for the Briogeo one because it’s less expensive (plus I got it on the sale) and I just wanted to try something new. However if the Briogeo one proves to be not as effective, I’ll be going back to Phytopolleine!

Have you been good about using up your products?
