May 2018 Roundup: Favourites, Empties, Accomplishments!

I’m exciting to share a personal accomplishment this month alongside my product faves and empties. It may seem silly, but I’m sure proud of myself! Also, a few of the products I’m going to mention are actually my purchases from the Sephora Spring VIB Haul. Usually I return more than half the stuff cause they end up sucking, but I’ve actually been consistently using all of them since I got it in the mail!

Favourites

Skincare

EltaMD SPF 30 Plus UV Moisturizig Facial Sunscreen – This is a physical-chemical SPF with Zinc Oxide and Octinoxate. Ever since I got this I can’t stop using it. It doesn’t leave a bad whitecast despite the initial application and spread, and it makes my face feel more moisturized and look smooth! It’s also the best facial sunscreen deal I’ve found considering the formulation and amount – $32 for 3oz! I’ve paid more for a facial sunscreen for 1oz. I’m comfortable using this liberally and daily, and my boyfriend uses it too.

Makeup

I’ve actually been steering towards lighter complexion products and barely wearing concealer! Last monthly roundup I mentioned how I love the natural, medium coverage I get from my It Cosmetics CC Cream in the day time; But if on the rare chance I go out at night, I’ve been loving tint-style bases! I feel like I’ve been having a lot of MSBB looks with the tints I’m about to mention.

Pixi H2O Skin Tint (Warm) * – Stunnnnnnned. I’m slowly getting back into drugstore items, and this Pixi H2O Skin Tint was a pleasant surprise! Despite the amount of silicones in it feels so good on the skin and not slippy, doesn’t dry me out, evens out my skin tone and I don’t need to pair it with anything else to make me feel confident!

Mac Face & Body (C2) – Is it proper to say this is a cult item? I’ve always heard about this being a staple, and so it’s the first tint-type base I bought. LOVE! This evens out my skin and provides that healthy glow we all seem to want these days, but without putting a ton of makeup on. The only thing about this one is that the glo is real y’all – powder will not keep it down, the glo up will always be there. Having said that, oily skinned peeps, not for you!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette – My first ABH palette, and I’m in love! I went for this one out of all the others because I wanted the common shades that ABH carries such as Orange Soda and Sienna, and majority of the palette is matte. Lately I’ve been loving using mainly Orange Soda on my lids as a bright orange colour, and adding whatever else matte I need depending on the time of day and the look I’m going for. A whole new experience in eyeshadows!

Clinique Cheek-Pop Blush (Melon Pop) – Another first, another love. It performs very similarly to the hourglass one with maybe a tad more shimmer if you apply too much. Either way, it’s less expensive and has other colours I want to eventually add to my collection.

Haircare

Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment – Definitely replaced my Phyto Paris Phytopolleine Botanical Scalp Treatment. Both work the same, but the Briogeo one is better. It’s not as expensive, a tad bit more product, and I don’t need to do an extensive hair routine to use it! I apply it to my scalp after I towel dry my hair and I haven’t been having any scalp irritation.

Accomplishment

I’ve maintained a consistent workout schedule! 2-4 times a week to be exact. Like actually getting up, going to the gym and doing weights. I just recently started adding in a bit of cardio too! WHO AM I???? But seriously, I’m so proud of myself. It was a struggle to find motivation to even go once a week! Simple 30 minute workouts the whole month and I already see changes in my body; Not just appearance, but how I stand too! *Striving for better posture*. If I can keep this up, I’ll eventually write up a post on my workout routine, and how I became motivated in the first place to get my ass in gear.

Empties

Skincare

Banish Acne Scars Banish Oil – One of the better Vitamin C serums I’ve tried. Brightened my face, plumped up my skin, I don’t complain about any tight feelings in my skin after using this. However, I talk about my qualms about this product in my latest review and more detailed information about this serum! ( REVIEW: Banish Acne Scars Banish Starter Kit )

Banila Co. Clean it Zero (Old version) – Removed makeup and stubborn eye makeup extremely well with a little amount. This is the first sherbert type makeup remover balm I’ve used and it makes me want to stick to it! The only thing I didn’t like about this one is the fragrance. I like natural scents in my products, not super sweet fake scents like this one had. I’m not sure how the new formulation is, either way, I’ve been eyeing the Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm with Echinacea GreenEnvy (yeesh) at Sephora and the Heimish All Clean Balm! So many things to try, not enough face! *insert tiny violin*

Mizon All in One Snail Repair Cream – This was okay. I think oily skin-types would love this moisturizer; When I initially would apply a dollop and massage into my face, my skin feels moisturized. For my dry skin however, this feeling lasts for a very short period, and I have to apply another moisturizer on top. I used it as a “humectant” type product (as Dr. Dray would do) but I’m positive it’s not meant for that. I definitely recommend to any oily skinned types out there, but for me it’s a pass for a repurchase.

Makeup

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara, Innisfree Skinny Microcara – They’re not empty per say, but they are old. I can tell because the L’Oreal one is starting to irritate my eyes, and I had both of them over the 6 month date. I already cracked open another tube of the Innisfree Skinny Microcara, and I’m currently using the Heroine Make Waterproof mascara. I love Japanese mascaras, so I’d go for them than the conventional drugstore ones if I can get a hold of them!

Woohoo! More products done. It helps when you have someone to use it all up with you (when you let them).

xo, M
