January 2018 Roundup

Below are 5 products I’ve been using a lot and liking in January, as well as products I managed to finish during the month! I decided to start a post series called “Roundup” so I not only talk about recent favourites, but to encourage myself (and hopefully you) to use up your current products! As a beauty junkie, it’s easy to collect and not use. I’m trying to change this habit and stop holding onto products that I know I can just buy again.

Products with (PR) were either sent to me for review purposes or gifted by family/friends.

FAVOURITES

SKINCARE

Ever since I included this in my skincare routine, I noticed immediately the redness and darkness I would get around my T-zone become less prominent. On top of that, I felt like my serums were working better, because this essence was creating a nice, smooth canvas on my skin to allow for products to sink in faster. To top it off, my hyper-pigmentation marks have been looking less visible!

Probably my favourite mist to date! I’ve been using it everyday in the morning once I get up to relieve the dryness of my apartment. I also put some in a smaller spray bottle and had it in my carry-on for my 5 hour flight to Mexico. I can also use it even while wearing makeup, for it doesn’t disrupt my foundation.

MAKEUP

Fenty Invisimatte Blotting Powder
For most of January and December I’ve been reaching for the blotting powder to set my makeup. Yep, not for touch-ups, set. I take a damp BeautyBlender and just pat my T-zone area. While it doesn’t keep my face looking super-matte throughout the day, I like that on application my face still doesn’t look cakey and it smooths out the look of my pores. With the colour being a pink-purple hue, it provides a subtle “lit-from-within” type of look, so it doesn’t make your face look flat when you powder down.

STATIONARY

I’ve been filling in this bad boy every day for the month of January. Overall I have been enjoying using it and have found the meal and habit trackers to be extremely useful. I also like the nice touches of weekly quotes, and the monthly reflection at the end. (The link goes to her stationary section, the planner is sold out.)

HAIRCARE – NORTH AMERICAN HEMP Co. PRODUCTS

I am floored by how good the haircare is from this brand! I’ve tried samples of the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, but the volumizing one isn’t too shabby either. What I REALLY like are the hair treatments. Both make my hair feel super soft, like I never bleached my hair 3 times! Definitely worth looking into, especially for the price point.

EMPTIES

SKINCARE

Do I really need to explain myself on this one again? I’m already on my third bottle.

My 2nd time emptying this moisturizer, and still a great go because a little goes a long way and it does not congest my acne-prone skin! I’m currently using another moisturizer at the moment, but definitely recommend this one and would repurchase.

Kalaya Naturals Moisture Cream
Nick mostly used this one while I used it a handful of times. It was a light consistently that sank into the skin quickly. Because of this, I felt like it didn’t leave a significant moisturized barrier on my skin, which I usually like to have. Otherwise, it’s a nice basic moisturizer that will be a repurchase, again, once we use up the other moisturizers we have!

HAIRCARE

Aveda Clove Color Conditioner
I love Aveda color treatments in general because they do not dry out my hair as significanlty as others. I’m already on my 3rd tube of Clove to maintain my ashy brown hair, and I use it with the Blue Malva Shampoo. Take a gander at this line if you need to color-treat your hair everyday and you want something that’s not too drying!

And that’s it for January’s roundup! I already got some empties for the month of February that I’m excited to share with you all and throw out! Having too many products became overwhelming, so I’m glad that my collection of products is starting to minimize (for me, anyways).
