Sebamed Extreme Dry Skin Relief Face Cream 5% Urea Review

Urea skincare has been rotating in and out of my skincare routine for a handful of years now. Ever since reading F.C.’s rave review on SimpleSkincareScience, I really wanted urea to work in my skincare routine. From lotions to serums, and a variety of moisturizers. Considering how often I try out a urea-containing product, I thought I should take the time to sit down and review one!

This post will be on a moisturizer I used in my skincare routine this year, Sebamed Extreme Dry Skin Relief Face Cream 5% Urea.

Sebamed Extreme Dry Skin Relief Face Cream 5% Urea Application & Texture

After cleansing, or after serum, I apply 2 dime-nickel size amounts of Sebamed Extreme Dry Skin Relief Face Cream all over my face and neck. It is a lovely gel-cream texture – enough to provide moisture to my normal-dry skin type while being light enough for the summer months. It is opaque white, blends very easily. Unfortunately it has a strong fragrance and I tend to hold my breath on application because it is too much.

My Experience Using Sebamed Extreme Dry Skin Relief Face Cream 5% Urea

As the day progressed, Sebamed Extreme Dry Skin Relief Face Cream did keep my face comfortably moisturized. However, my skin would feel quite dry to the touch. Although my skin felt fine, it was as if there was no trace of moisture on my face. Only if I used my go-to sunscreen for the summer would I feel some type of residue. In addition, the fragrance became a problem. It does eventually disappear, but it doesn’t negate the fact that I have been getting more headaches than usual.

Final Thoughts on Sebamed Extreme Dry Skin Relief Face Cream 5% Urea

Pros:

  • Cosmetically elegant gel-cream
  • Kept my skin feeling comfortably moisturized

In-Between Feels:

  • No moisturized feeling to be found long after application if worn on its own; Using a sunscreen overtop, I never noticed an issue
  • Quite pricy for the amount and how much I need to use; It could also be that it’s more expensive outside of Germany, in which case it would be a better value to buy in-store at a German drugstore that carries it

Cons:

  • The fragrance is headache-inducing

Overall, Sebamed Extreme Dry Skin Relief Face Cream 5% Urea was alright. I would consider trying the fragrance-free version, but I still won’t be 100% satisfied with it as my sole, go-to moisturizer.

That’s it for this review! As always, I hope you find content like this helpful and informative.
