December 2018 Roundup – I DID IT!

*clap clap clap* I have somehow managed to do a roundup for every month this year, and use up a ton of products along the way! Here are my favourites and empties for December, and stay tuned for the Beauty of Beauty posts!

Favourites

Skincare

Cerave Baby Healing Ointment – The regular one isn’t available in Canada, but I swear these have similar ingredients! This is my current go-to occlusive for around my eyes, smile area and any dry spots (let’s be real – my entire face). It has 45% petroleum, mineral oil, as well as *drumroll* CERAMIDES! You guessed it lol. Basically this is less greasy to use compared to straight up Vaseline (although still greasy) and is easier to thin out or mix with my moisturizer.

Tools

Sephora Pro-Diffuser Brush #64 – Another solid recommendation from my friend. This brush is the best complexion brush I have ever used. MAC Face and Body, MUFE Matte Velvet, cream blush. powder blush, general blending… Bless this brush, for it does everything!

Empties

Skincare

Benzagel 5 Acne Wash – One of the best BP products I’ve ever used. It was really gentle when I used it, lasted WAY longer than expected, and worked well with OTC Differin.
My Nighttime (PM) Skincare Routine 2018

Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment – Love it more than the Phytopolleine I had prior. It worked fairly quickly at balancing my scalp, and I actually found I didn’t have a need for it until I *unbalanced* it with other hair products I’ve been trying. Will probably repurchase this.

CNP Brightening Daily Fluid Sun Essential Fluid Formula SPF50+ PA++++ – Loved it when I first bought it because of how milky it was. However near it’s end it seemed to pill on my face a LOT! Also I can’t rely find a reliable link even if I wanted to repurchase.

Dermalogica Biolumin-C Serum * – After much reflection on all the Vitamin C serums I have tried this year, I have concluded that this was the best one. Mainly because it benefitted my skin in a variety of ways, and the one major con is the price.
REVIEW: Dermalogica Biolumin-C Serum

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel * – Holy cow, this took so long to finish, I actually used it in the morning as well. I got this back in October 2017 And pretty much used it every night since (aside from testing other stuff). A little went a long way and despite the price you really do get the full value of this cleanser!

Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream 30ml – You all know I purchased the 60ml size, ’nuff said.
BRAND REVIEW: Dear, Klairs

Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream – This moisturizer will always have a special place in my heart. The only moisturizer I  could rely on when my skin was Going from oily to dry while still breaking out from getting off of BC.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, 60+ EMPTIES LATER.

62 MO’FREAKIN’ PRODUCTS! I know my bf helped me with some, but majority of them were on my own damn face! Keep in mind I didn’t purchase all these products, some were gifts and PR.

For 2019, I’m really going to try being more diligent at using up products I have before purchasing another one. I thought I was doing pretty good, but receiving PR that I care to use after review makes it difficult.

Hope you enjoyed my Roundup series! This year I may just do current favourites and empties based on the season so the video is more focused on a topic. Stay tuned for my Best of Beauty 2018 posts, they are almost done!

Summer Essentials 2017 : Skincare, Makeup, Misc., and Many Mists!

I feel like this summer I have some amazing products that will be in constant rotation in my skincare, makeup, and even hair routine! They just perform so well and I enjoy using them. And obviously, the bonus is they don’t do anything to aggravate my current skin concerns! They either just let my skin be, or contribute to its overall health. Below I listed my absolute musts for summer, including some alternatives.

January & February Favourites 2017

Here are some products and items that stood out to me the past couple of months. Most of them I have used consistently since purchase, so it is only appropriate that I dedicate a blog post to them!

Skincare

Acure Aromatherapeutic Moroccan Argan Oil (Rose)*
I have an unhealthy obsession with this! It smells so. Damn. Good. One pump is enough to cover my entire face, and sometimes I mix it in with whatever base makeup I decide to wear. It leaves my skin soft, smooth and healthy. (Will be doing a review of the Acure products I received from my previous post [UNBOXING] Natural, Eco-Friendly Goodies)

Acure Quick Fix Correcting Balm (Argan Oil + Starrflower)

I have been using this day and night around my eye area, the corners of my nose and smile area, and on the liiiiiight dehydration line on my forehead. It’s been keeping my eyes nicely hydrated and moisturized, and the tight, dry skin around my nose has become bearable. The forehead is the only place I stopped using it because a pimple sprouted there from it, otherwise it has been doing the job of adding extra moisture to needed areas and “fixing” problems!

Charmzone Control Cream Self-Massage
I also have an unhealthy obsession with this product. It removes dead skin cells, clears the gunk in my skin, and leaves it feeling soft and smooth. It is unbelievably gentle and my skin always looks good after using it. (Will be doing a full review and demo)

Boscia Charcoal Deep-Pore Cleansing Stick Treatment
I bought this just for fun after watching YouTuber Gothamista’s review on cleansing sticks. Iv’e been using it on and off, and consistently on a week vacation, and it actually turned out to be pretty effective! I noticed the size of my pores minimized significantly after one use, it never made my skin feel tight, and my breakouts were never inflamed. The one thing is it “melts” a bit fast so make sure to be quick with the stick and set it aside upright! (Of course I shall review)

Supergoop Barre to Bar Beauty Set – I bought this for my week vacation down to Cuba and it proved to be a lovely set. The City Serum is light and hydrating, the CC cream matched my skin tone well, and the lip/cheek treat was a nice colour that blended into the skin and lips easily without looking patchy. The only one I’m on the fence about is the mist, because of it’s heavy smell of alcohol, and I haven’t used it enough to know if the SPF is effective. (Full review will be posted after this!)

#SampleSunday: Couple of Sephora, mostly Wishtrend!

This is my first time doing a sample post, but it was time to clean out my bathroom drawer.

The only reason I like any sample posts is because it’s like a first impression. It’s a bit hard to detect if a product works properly after one product I admit, but I also think it’s important to know how a product will react upon first contact with the skin.

I tried a few products t right after a bath, and the rest was before bed. I know it’s a lot of product in one go, but like I said – I wanted to get rid of these samples, plus I have backup skin saviours in case I get a bad reaction!

Winter Foundation Routine/Review: Cover FX Total Cover Cream Foundation in G30

Hey beauties,

Lately as my skin has become drier due to the cold season, it has also become a tad paler, and discolouration is becoming more prominent. Finding a foundation at the drugstore is particularly difficult, because most of the common brands have a pink undertone, and they break me out.

Last year I saw the Cover FX counter at a nearby Shoppers Drugmart, and noticed that this line had a ton of different shades, with different undertones! Because I tan very well and am of Asian and Mediterranean descent, I fall into the golden tones. After some serious swatching, I found that I am in the shade G30: for light to medium skin with golden undertones. I’ve tried other products since purchasing this one (obviously), but I have rekindled my love for this cream foundation, with its amazing coverage and giving me natural, healthy looking skin!

Collective Luxury Haul with Some First Impressions: Sephora VIB 20% Off, Shoppers Drugmart 20x the Points

Hello hello hello (from the outsiiiiiiiiiiiiide)! I’m so excited to write this post. Today I will be featuring all the (expensive) goodies I bought from the Sephora at regular price and during their VIB 20% off, and the Shoppers Drugmart 20x the Points. Don’t be fooled by the little amount of items I bought – they may be small in number, but together, they put a dent in my bank account.

Sephora sales are exciting on their own; they offer so many great brands, and 20% makes you want to try more than you thought you wanted to. And you can still get a full refund on the items! While the 20x the Points at Shoppers never seemed all that exciting to me, a few friends convinced me  it is the best time to grab some products. Much to my surprise, I find it even better than the Sephora points and little perks. Although you are buying items for full price, the points convert into money, so you may get a product for free in the future. I went from $30 to $85 worth of free items at Shoppers during the 20x the Points event. That means I can get that Phyto Phytopolleine Botanical Scalp Treatment ($50 CAD) fo’ free!

Now, on with the products!
